Whether it was our first sight of a mountain, our first close encounter with wildlife, or our first camping trip, we've all had magical nature experiences that stand out from all others. Unfortunately, in our high tech busy world, our contacts with nature are all too often forsaken for hours spent in front of a computer or television.
Rocky Mountain Bird Observatory's Adult Education Programs are designed to give adults (age 15 and up) hands-on opportunities to learn about birds while spending time outdoors experiencing and appreciating the natural world. Our Education Division has been providing opportunities for magical nature experiences to happen over the past 19 years. We invite all adults, from non-birders to accomplished birders, to get out of the house and join us at our Bird Education Center for an outdoor experience!
RMBO's mission is to conserve birds of the Rocky Mountains, Great Plains, and Intermountain West and the habitats on which they depend through research, monitoring, education, and outreach. One of the ways we reach our mission is through education, which we feel is important because, "We conserve only what we love, we love only what we understand, we understand only what we are taught" (Baba Dioum).

Using Field Guides

Few experiences foster a sense of wonder and excitement as encounters with nature do. It may be a simply taking a hike, looking at bald eagles through binoculars, or seeing a live bird in the hand that peaks interest. Nature also calms us and reinvigorates us. Whether it was our first sight of a mountain, an encounter with wildlife, or a camping trip, we've all had magical nature experiences that stand out among our adult or childhood memories. Unfortunately, in our high tech busy world, children's contacts with nature are all too often forsaken for hours spent indoors, often in front of a computer or television.
Our Family Education Programs are designed to give children and their families a fun, hands-on opportunity to learn about nature, and to get outdoors to experience the wonders of birds. For 19 years, our Education Division has been providing opportunities for educational and memorable nature experiences to happen. We invite children (ages 5 and up) and their families to get out of the house and join us at our Bird Education Center for fun learning experiences! All programs are open to the public and we invite Boy and Girl Scouts in order to help them earn their wildlife badges.
